Terms and Conditions
The following terms and conditions govern the use of QikRent's vehicle rental services in the Dominican Republic. By making a reservation, the customer agrees to comply with these terms in full.
1. Service purpose
QikRent provides short and long-term motor vehicle rental services in the Dominican Republic. The service ranges from daily and weekly rentals to monthly lease contracts, according to the category, dates and locations specified in the reservation or contract. The vehicle is delivered in the conditions described in the lease contract signed at the time of delivery.
2. Lessee requirements
To rent a vehicle, the customer must: a) Be at least 21 years of age; b) Hold a valid and current driver's license; c) Present a valid identity document or passport; d) Provide truthful and complete information during the reservation process. QikRent reserves the right to reject applications that do not meet these requirements.
3. Reservations and availability
Reservations are made by vehicle category. QikRent assigns the specific vehicle corresponding to the reserved category. Vehicle availability is subject to confirmation. The minimum rental period is two (2) days. Reservations are not considered confirmed until the customer receives email confirmation from our team.
4. Rates and payments
Rates shown are per rental day and are calculated based on the vehicle category and lease duration. Prices include applicable taxes under Dominican legislation. The customer must pay the full reservation amount at vehicle delivery, unless partial advance payment has been agreed. Accepted payment methods include cash and credit or debit cards.
5. Insurance and coverage
QikRent offers three insurance coverage levels: Básica, Plus and Total. Each level has an applicable deductible that varies based on rental duration. The customer must select an insurance plan at the time of booking; the selection is locked and cannot be modified afterward. The Básica insurance does not cover theft or total loss of the vehicle. In case of theft or total loss with Básica coverage, the customer assumes 100% of the vehicle's value. Insurance is not refunded in case of early vehicle return. Insurance covers only the contracted period and is not transferable to other vehicles or bookings.
6. Security deposit
At vehicle delivery, the customer must provide a security deposit equivalent to the applicable deductible of the selected insurance plus an additional amount for minor expenses. This deposit serves as a guarantee for compliance with contract obligations. QikRent may use the deposit, fully or partially, to cover damages, fines, fuel or other charges, with prior email notification to the customer.
7. Vehicle use
The rented vehicle may only be driven by the lessee or additional drivers authorized by QikRent. The vehicle may not be used for: a) Transport of passengers or cargo for third-party commercial purposes; b) Pushing or towing another vehicle; c) Sports or speed racing; d) Driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics; e) Being driven by minors; f) Crossing the border with Haiti without express authorization; g) Crossing rivers. Failure to comply with these conditions exempts QikRent from all coverage liability.
8. Cancellations and no-show
The customer may cancel their booking without charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled pickup date and time. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice may incur a charge equivalent to the value of the first day's rental. If the customer fails to appear to pick up the vehicle on the scheduled date and time without prior notice (no-show), the booking will be automatically cancelled and a charge equivalent to the value of the first day's rental may apply. QikRent reserves the right to cancel or modify a booking due to force majeure, notifying the customer as far in advance as possible. The value of insurance and contracted extras is not refunded in case of cancellation by the customer once the rental period has begun.
9. Fuel
The vehicle is delivered with a specific fuel level, recorded in the lease contract and documented photographically at the time of delivery. The customer must return the vehicle with the same fuel level it was received with. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, QikRent will charge the customer for the missing fuel plus a refueling service fee. Excess fuel is not refunded if the vehicle is returned with more fuel than received.
10. Mileage
Mileage is unlimited within the territory of the Dominican Republic for all bookings, unless otherwise specified in the lease contract. The vehicle may not be driven outside the national territory without express authorization from QikRent.
11. Lease contract
At the time of vehicle delivery, the customer and QikRent sign a lease contract detailing the specific rental conditions, including assigned vehicle, dates, rates, selected insurance, applicable deductible, security deposit, and obligations of both parties. The signed contract prevails over these terms in case of discrepancy. These terms and conditions are a complement to the lease contract and form an integral part of it. The customer acknowledges having read and accepted both documents at the time of signing the contract.
12. Jurisdiction and applicable law
Any controversy regarding the subscription, execution or termination of the lease contract shall be under the jurisdiction of the Courts of the Dominican Republic. The parties declare that common law shall supplement their relationship for everything not expressly provided in these terms. These terms may be updated by QikRent at any time, and changes will be effective upon publication on this website.
